No.25 It has recently been announced that a large shopping centre may be built in your neighborhood. Do you support or oppose this plan? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.

I live at a small town. At every weekend, when I go shopping in the city and stagger home loaded with as many of the exotic items as I can carry, I always said to myself: nor is the perfect town without a large shopping centre. The plan to build a large shopping centre could benefit us a lot: more job opportunities, the promoting of local economy, as well as the convenience of shopping.

For one thing, the building of a large shopping center could supply many job opportunities. Because it is a large-scale project and requires a large number of labors to build, such as carpenters, plumbers, mechanics. And then, it needs numerous staff to run, including cashier, salesmen, manager, and other senior executives. The employee would be chosen from the local population, and many people who have been rambling in the street have the chance to get a job, thus enhancing the social stability and reducing the crime rate.

Another benefit of constructing the large shopping center is to
  boost the local economy. When being constructing, it needs all kinds of materials, such as cement, steel product, as well as wood, which is purchased from local factories, thus stimulating the local economic growth. Meanwhile, around the center/factory, many new stores, restaurants, bars, entertainment facilities will start to serve for the staff of the center/factory and the customers. And this further promotes
  the local economy as well as employment rate.

In addition to providing more jobs and developing local economy, it will afford a new convenience of shopping for the people in the town. They could buy all kinds of commodities more conveniently at lower prices. And they no longer go to the city for shopping. They could have more time to be with their family and strengthen the relationship among them.

However, the construction will have adverse effects on local environments, such as noise, pollution, traffic jams, and so on. The government should formulate some new regulations to prohibit these problems.

Although I agree that there may be a couple of disadvantages of building a large shopping centre, I feel that the advantages are more obvious. Many unemployed people could seek a job again. The local economy would develop dramatically. And the inhabitants could enjoy the pleasure of shopping.
