Question: Is the ability to read and write more important today than in the past Why or why not?

   Some people doubt that the ability of reading and writing is becoming less useful than before. Maybe they only see an aspect of the truth. In my opinion, in this information era, with the internet using in varied aspect of our life, reading and writing ability becoming more important for it can bring us more information, make our communication efficiency.

   As what I said, today is in an information era. People should face more and more information. We need to catch the step of the time by getting more information. Nowadays, the internet is the most crucial and convenient way to get information’s we know, most of information on internet is in the text statue. So I believe ones who want to get more information from internet should be a good reader first.

   With the internet changing our daily lives deeply, our communication tool is changing as well. The Email becoming the convenient communication method of people. Millions of people write and read Email in their home, office also in the Cafe everyday. So we easily find that the reading and writing while they now are the essential ability to communication with their friends, their colleague and other people, is more important in this era.

   Nowadays I can't deny that there are also many other communication ways such as the phone. But we should focus on the importance of reading and writing changing between the past and nowadays. That with the internet developing and the need of information increased people have to get information they need by reading and writing. So contrast to the past, the importance of the ability of reading and writing is increasing. For example, a senior high student should read more books in our country than before. And for the competition is becoming more and more contradictive, we need to have more knowledge to get a good ranking in the test. And the basic way we got the knowledge is to reading the books.

   All in all, I believe that the importance of reading and writing is becoming more important and essential for every people.
