我分析了下，这几个　推荐信　必须的部分，不知分析的对不对，请大家指点，

Each referee’s letter (sealed and marked confidential for the attention of ‘The Registrar and Vice-Principal’ must be attached and should address the following issues:

(a) How long has the referee known the applicant and in what position?

分析：这个问题是问推荐人和申请认识的时间，场合，以及关系。这个问题的主要目的是考察申请人和推荐人的关系，看看推荐人是否真的很熟悉申请人的情况，就是对申请人了解的程度，这也就决定了推荐信的份量和可信度。
            

EX: ：I’ve known Mr. XYZ for more than 4 years. We were colleagues, friends and activities partners.
                

(b) How does the referee rate the applicant’s academic
                ability and motivation?

分析：这个是问推荐人如何评论申请人的学习能力，以及学习的自发性和动机

EX: He is bright, diligent, ambitious, energetic, open-minded, mature and enthusiastic.
            

(c) What does the referee consider to be the applicant’s main strengths and weaknesses?

分析：请谈谈申请人的优点。这个问题可以从两个方面来考虑，一个是申请人的优点是在什么地方，另一方面，要强调一下这些优点为什么很特别，为什么能让申请人与众不同。
            

以及什么缺点和可以改进的地方。一般学校都会问到类似的问题，如果推荐人只是敷衍了事地说没有，要么是推荐人不了解申请人，要么是故意不说。其实，一个缺点都没有是不可能的事情，推荐人最好能找出一个无关紧要，不影响申请人的申请，但是又算得上“缺点”东西或者例子来说明。当然，这个问题是能短则短，说多了可能引起误会，反而不利于申请人。

A. Exactly.  It also puts the recommender's words into a context (e.g. work/personal life, etc.) and helps the school understand the recommender's perspective.

B. Depending on the school, you can also extend it out to willingness to learn from others, ability to adopt a theory in practice, etc. 

C. It could also be a shortcoming that the applicant has already overcame or will be able to through the MBA education.
