题目:If you could study a subject that you have never had the opportunity to study, what would you choose? Explain your choice, using specific reasons and details.
When given the opportunity to study a new subject, I will undoutedly choose computer science. Since computer is one of the key words of our time, a man can not use computer, most of us may believe, is an unfortunate victim of adverse circumtances, deprived of one of the greatest twenty-first century’s opportunities. Based on such viewpoint, I will give several specific reasons rendered below.
To start with, no one can deny the fact that computers are indespensable in learning knowledge, especially for students. Imagine without computer, how can you complete large quantities of papers in time? How can you search information efficiently in huge database? Or how can you make presentations vividly and convincingly in class? Accordingly, it will never be too much to emphasize the importance of mastering computer skills.
In addition, knowing how to use internet can enormously facilitate our life. Not only can it shorten the geographical distance between friends, but it can save lots of money. Take my experience for example, my boyfriend lives quite far away from me, in order to keep in touch and control expenditure, we choose internet in stead of oversea telephone or letter, which is either expensive or time-consuming. Thus, it attracts me to indulge in the subject to invent more practical applications to benefit our citizens.
Last but not least, it is wise to choose computer science because the relative skills can make us competent in job-hunting. In fact, on no account can an applicant be hired by famous mulnational corporations without computer skills. For instance, an accountant must know how to operate financial software applications; an employee should master how to submit reports by using e-mail; a team member need to understand how to attend a netmeeting with his/her boss probably overseas. Even for a student, if he knows how to develop his personal homepage professionally and set up a link in his resume, it will for sure add additional intangible values to his background.
Admittedly, learning of programming may be a little boring, and the updating speed of knowledge may be too fast to keep pace with, But these minor difficulties are too weak to weaken my point. This subject, compared with others such as art or literature, is instrumental for our real life, and thus will not fail to be a wise choice.
