100 Some people think that governments should spend as much money as possible on developing or buying computer technology. Other people disagree and think that this money should be spent on more basic needs. Which one of these opinions do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.
Currently, there are two opinions about the spending of government’s money: developing high computer technology and buying basic needs. In my opinion, how to spend the money should depend on the actual or local conditions.
For the rich areas, the government should spend the money on the high technology. High technology is very important to keep the government among the front of others and, most importantly, it can bring a lot of profit. For example, in most of eastern cities of China, like Wuxi, Suzhou, Zhenjiang etc., many international companies invest here and make the people around these area very rich. At the same time, they bring a lot of taxes to government. In order to keep the competitive, the investment of government, or even the private companies, should be in the super technology, like the computer, communications, network, etc.
On the other hand, the basic needs, such as food, clothes, and living conditions, should be considered firstly. It is hard to image that people can develop the high technology without enough food or clothes. A very good example for this is in the western area of China. The people are poor, the society is unstable, unemployment and crime rates are high. All of these will demand the government to spend more money to improve the basic condition or environment.
How to properly spend the money is not easy but is very important. The wise way can obtain unexpected results. Summarily, the government should consider the local condition to allocate their money on computer technology or basic needs. |
