Whether students should do some of the talking in class is a controversial topic today. Different people hold different opinions due to their personal experience. Some people like classes where teachers do all of the talking, but others prefer classes where the students do some of the talking. In my point of view, if I were face with this question, I would probably follow the latter one. In the following discussion, I would like to reason and provide evidence to support my viewpoint.
The first reason why I prefer classes where the students do some of the talking is that it can improve the ability of students' expression. Facts witness and present many examples, few schools offer students an opportunity to talk in the class. As a result, when they have a presentation, they couldn't present the work that they did very well in front of the people, because they are seldom talking in the class or they are nervous. Therefore, the training of the talking in each class can help them to prepare when they have to present their work in front of the people. Don't you think that this example is very persuasive?
Another indisputable fact is that it is a good way to communicate with their teachers, and teachers can immediately point out their mistakes. For example, students undoubtedly have some questions after the class, but people seldom ask their teacher because of the face. Nevertheless, if teachers can force their students to talk in the class, they can realize how far their students go. Therefore, teachers can actively help students to consolidate their knowledge. If you can see it, you can understand it deeply.
Finally, allowing some of talking in the class can encourage students to educate themselves. In fact, if teachers force their students to contribute their ideas as a part of class, it may motivate them to explore their subject more deeply. Furthermore, not only it can help them to understand the subject deeply, but also can help them to build up their self-confidence.
To sum up, I much prefer classes where the students do some of the talking. This process makes the students to improve their expressive ability, to communicate with their teachers better and to educate themselves.
