83. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Modern technology is creating a single world culture. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion. 

The book which named "The world is flat" becomes the best seller these days. The author discusses

that the development and modernization of technology is at high speed. Currently, some people claim that the modern technology is creating a single world culture, however, others point out that the world is multi-culture as before. The way I see it, the first group of people seem to have the right answer.

 

 

To begin with, thanks to the technology, communication becomes much easier and convenient. 50 years ago, if people wanted to communicate with his/her friends who live far away from them, they can just send a mail. It always takes the mail a few weeks or even months to reach the receiver, and it has a big chance of getting lost on its way. Nowadays, however, one can talk with his/her friends on the telephone whenever he/she wants, what is more, they can even see each other through the camera of a computer. That is to say, information becomes easy to get and easy to send. A Chinese girl may wear the same dress as an American girl for they all know that is the most popular style this year. The different cultures become to close to each other by this way.

 

 

I have another solid argument for that the technology is creating a single world. Technology makes travel much easier. It now only cost 3 hours from Hainan Island (which is the second largest island of China) to Beijing if you travel on airplane. So the fresh tropical fruits in Hainan Island can transport to Beijing conveniently. Therefore the people in Beijing can enjoy the delicious fruits even in the chilly winter day. So the technology gains people in distinct area the opportunity to have the same food. We can say their culture become similar to some extend.

  

  

Admittedly, there are some remote areas where telephones are rare to see, not mention the computer and the internet. If all the factors are contemplated, nevertheless, the tendency of fostering a unique culture is obvious, and I can safely reach the conclusion that the technology is creating a single culture.
