1. People attend college or university for many different reasons (forexample, new experiences, career preparation, increased knowledge). Why do you think people attend college or university? use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
I believe most of us has the same experience studying at schools(同位语?). Initially, we attended the primary school, then junior school, and then high school. Some of us may continue to matriculate into a college or an university, choosing the major we are interested in. The reason why people decide to enrol in university, as far as I am concerned, may lie in the following several aspects: preparing for future career, increasing knowledge, having new experiences and making life-long friends, etc.
The first and the most important reason why people attend univeristy might be that people need to prepare for their future career. As is known to all, when attending university, we have to choose a specific major as the field we are going to focus on and have research in. This major should both be fascinating for us to involve and have much to do with our future job or the industry we are to devote ourselves to. As for myself, I chose English literature as my major. That’s because I love learning foreign languages and I wish my job be relevant to English.
Additionally, in university we may obsorb much knowledge in the specification we are fund of as much as we need, for the tutors are professional and concentrating on their fields and the resource in university is usually various. For instance, most of the professors is always doing research. Regardless the result, they are the experts in their category. We may not only go to them when meeting academic problems, but also request for an opportunity working for them in their research, from which we will benefit a lot, both academically and socially, because we could probablly reach the most exploring theory during the research and become the beholder of the birth of truth, and also working with people increases our ability to cooperate and to be a team player. Regarding the learning resource, we can find many reading materials related to our major in the university library. Enlarging our range of reading would simply be the best way to help us be academically competetive.
Last but not the least, attending university would be a good chance to make new, sometimes life-long friends, and experience the unexperienced, which might become your forever memory. As a matter of fact, many of us may feel that in university we should cherish friendship the most, because univerisity might be the last place where people arround you do not judge you from your background. After entering the society, people pay more attention on how to make friends that are helpful and in many cases useful in developing their career rather than building true friendship with the individuals of the same belief and goal. In university we may also have many unforgetable and life changing experience. May I take myself for an exemple. I love music. I felt extremely lucky on campus because I made a lot of friends of the same interests. 5 of us started a band and performed on different kinds of activities held in school. We even held a solo concert in the dining hall. I never dreamed about it.
To be concluded, university is a place where people recognize themselves, find their ways and chasing their dreams. Although some choose not to attend univerisity for different reasons, from what has been discussed above, most people, including me, will not regret having studied in university.
