#144 Would you prefer to live in a traditional house or in a modern apartment building?

Upon to the question that which is better, living in a traditional house or in a modern apartment building, people have different opinion about it. Someone believe that traditional houses give people freedom, while others take the view that modern apartments provide convenience. The choice, nevertheless, is not easy to make. As far as I am concerned, I would prefer the latter. In the following discussion I would like to provide several reasons to support my viewpoint.

In the first place, the most important reason can be seen by every person. The price of an apartment is much lower than that of a house if both have the same square feet. In other words, living in an apartment can save you money. To illustrate this point, there is an example that is very persuasive. The previous house I bought several years ago is over $300,000, and I have to get the loan from the bank. The interest of the loan every year is over 20,000. Later I sold the house and bought an apartment which was only half price of the house and did not need to pay off the loan every month, I felt happy and never worried about the cost any more. There is no better example than this to demonstrate the strength of my point.

In the second place, another chief reason for my view is that there are so many facilities in a modern apartment building, such as swimming pool, saunas, table-tennis, in-door golf court and so on. We don’t need to go out to the fitness center which will spend more time and money. Facts witness and present as follows. When I lived in a house, I had to drive half an hour to the YMCA after work. But when I moved into an apartment, I could drive directly home and did exercises with my families together in the basement of the apartment. If you can see that, you can understand my choice more deeply.

Admittedly, it is undeniable that living a house has its own advantages. A proverb says'' Things have two sides''. For example, a house always has a garden which is a paradise for children. However, since I have no children and hate to do some trimming in the garden, I can see that the advantages of living in an apartment carry more weight than those of living in a house.

To sum up, based on what has been discussed above, which sometimes intertwine to form an organic whole and thus become more persuasive, we can safely reach the conclusion that living in a modern apartment building is much better than living in  a traditional house.
