The reading passage describes the situation that forest fires and severe storms cause disaster to forest and provides a solution to solve this problem, which is called salvage logging. However, in the listening, the professor believes that even though this method helps to the recover the forest, it would result in long-term damage and its benefits are questionable.

First, the professor refutes the point in reading passage that dead trees weighs against the forest. In fact, removing the dead trees will not create the good condition for the growth of plants. The decomposition provides the nutrient for further generation in forest. Therefore, the salvage logging might lead to a lack of nutrient in forest.

Second, contrary to what is mentioned in reading passage, the point made by professor says that salvage logging does more harm than insects do. The dead trees provide the habitat not only for some harmful insects but also for many birds and other insects. Thus, these dead trees play a vital role in the long-term health of the forest.

Third, another important reason stated in reading passage is that salvage logging could bring economic benefits to society, however, the professor in the listening believes that these benefits would not last every long. To recover some severely damaged forest, some vehicle that is expensive to use and maintain has to be used, such as helicopters. Furthermore, jobs created by salvage logging are usually temporary and prefer to hire outsiders with more experience and training rather than locals.

What characterizesmodern society is its rapidly changes
It is nottotally exaggerated that the knowledge advanced yesterday might fall behindtimes tomorrow. As a result of the significance of teachers, I stand for thepoint that they should attend courses after a certain period, such as fiveyears, to refresh their knowledge.

To judge a course, one of the most important criteria is practicality. Teachers should teach acourse that could apply to real life rather than a backward one. Take smart phone+s) as an example. Five years ago, it is impossible to make more thanthe wildest guess at how clear and big the screen of a+)mobile phone could be. In the classes, teachers was talking about superior capacities(手机内存是memory,我的手机一直提示我no memory card) brought by IphoneiPhone3GS. However, these capacities(ditto could not amaze people anymore. Teachingthese knowledge in class bring(应该是brings吧,teaching引导句子做主语,说的是这种行为) nothing valuable to students. Therefore, teachers should focus oncatching up with times.

Some people are wondering whether all teachers should take courses. I insistthat this requirement is an absolute necessity, because the+)world changes not in some certainperspectives but in every corner. People’s outlooks on the world, life, andvalues have totally changed(建议用现在完成进行时,此时此刻这些outlooks仍然在变化,have been totallychanging, PS:现在完成进行时via XDF), thus converting the things in the world to completely differentfeatures. For instance, people in my country now regard thin face as theasymbol of beauty. Responding to market demands, scientists have developedcountless technology词会否有些大skills,而且应该用+s,这里意思不用总称) tohelp people to change their face shape. The methodthey used even not appeared on the world in the past.(之前1句说现在流行小脸,所以发明了很多削脸的,这句说这方式以前没有,用2个单句显得有点逻辑重叠了,改成一个定从,have developed countlessskills that have not appeared in the past,或者 in the last 5 years,最好说是5 years 要是只是past,5年美容术没进步老师就可以不进修了, on the world 没必要) Hence, new things has sprung up in large members, thus making it isnecessary for all teachers to update their knowledge.

How often should teachers renew their knowledge? I think every five-year isappropriate. If they attend courses more often, these courses may distract themtoo much from their jobs,(频繁更新会影响上课,但是不频繁更新会一直给学生讲过时的东西,前半句是本段的意思,后半句是第一点的意思,有点自相矛盾。可以说一个理论或者knowledge从提出到被证实需要5年的时间,it needs 5 years to determine that a theory is practicable from hypothesis to theorem) resulting in a decline in the time they spent ontheir student(+s.But if the time is longer, their knowledge might too out-of-date to teach theirstudents. For example, in my childhood, Pluto was one of plants surrounding the sun(Sun,专名大写).But when I attended high school, scientists announced that it is not qualifiedfor being a “plant” and actually Pluto is a dwarf start. Thus five year issuitable.

Owing to reasons I mentioned above, I would arrive at the conclusion that allteachers should be required to attend courses every five years to update theirknowledge.

第一段是说out of date;第二段还是说了out of date,没有表现出跟本段TS句子的对应,all teachers should be,算是内部偏题吧。

What characterizes almost all Hollywood pictures is their inner emptiness.

另 weigh against 应该是我手抽写错了 应该是 be weighed against 不利于的意思
