7月26日101030NA Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People are now easier to become educated than in the past.

Human society keeps changing and so are the capacities required to achieve education. The development of human being and technologies give modern people so many advantages to get educated than in the past. For example, computers and internet make the communication around the world easier and more rapidly. With the help of them, people have the ability to know what happened in the world immediately, at the same time they can exchange their ideas about some events to improve knowledge so that they can correct their wrong opinions on some events. Therefore, there is no doubt that people are now easier to become educated than in the past.

To begin with, considering the advent of communication technology, people nowadays are easier to get information from various ways which could allow them to accept more education. One only need to click on one button of your computers or cell phones when you have some problems or want to know about some specific knowledge. The information on-line provided is up-to-date, easy to access, and widely available to the public. While hundreds of years ago, these kinds of technologies were quite unimaginable. Thus, the technologies give modern people the advantage to achieve information more convenient and fast.

Moreover, education nowadays becomes more focus on international exchange and information sharing, this give modern people the opportunity to choose the subject what they are interested in and love to continue throughout their life. Present transportation system is fast and safe, people only need to spend several hours on traveling to every part of the world to acheve education. Furthermore, modern education becomes equally focus on domestic and global events, so people now have a much broader vision on the issues beyond the national boundaries than people in the past did. As a result, modern people have vasirous ways to get educated, at the same time they have the opportunity to places where are famous teachers or high-tech facilities by using modern transportation system.

Finally, the development of human being give all the members of modern society the freedom to achieve equal rights to become educated. Everyone in modern society have the right to get educated, and the goverment is required to protect this right, to ensure children can accept the education. However, in the past, a large number of  people could not go to school simply because of their social status or economic condition. Meanwhile, the schools in the past were not large and sufficient in number to provide every person the opportunities to get educated. Also, women could not go to public shcool becasue of the special conditions at that time. As you can see, all social class nowadays can receive an high quality education. In contrst, people in the past were difficult to become educated.

Of course, people in the past indeed had not so many courses or books  to learn or to read, so that they could be more focus on their subjects. This is one advantage of people in the past, but the this advantage can not prove the point that people in the past were easier to become educated. So, based on what I have been discussed above, it is obvious that present people are easier to become educated.

7月27日Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People should know the events happening around the world, even if it unlikely has some influence on your daily life.
When it comes to the question of whether people should pay attention to the events which has no influence on their daily life happening around the world, different people have various opinions. Some people believe that it it necessary for their knowledge and future life, they think the events may not affect their life now but will have some influence on their future, while others do not agree with those people for the reason that knowing meaningless things for them is a water of time and energy. From my point of view as a student, also based on what I have learnt for other people and books, I agree with the second point. My reasons are as follows.

To begin with, knowing the events around the world is a waste of one's precious time which can be used on other more important things. This point is obvious, people all around the world have limited time. If they spend their time on unnecessary things, they can not use these time to do other things. For example, one need to spend more than ten minutes on reading newspaper, watching TV programs, or searching from the internet to know the events happening around the world. After they get the information, they may also want to talk with other people such as their classmates or teachers about these events, this also consume them soem time. If workers do so, they may forget to do their work, also if student do these things, they may forget to do their homework or do not have enough time to finish their assignments. In this point, konwing the events happening around the workd is unnecessary.

Moreover, knowing the events around the world can affect one's attitudes toward the environmnt around him/her. The environment around makes one feel comfortable and pleasant, the reason is that that person is already familiar with it. While knowing some events different from his/her local environment will cause one change his/her opinions, and feel uncomfortable. When I lived in my hometown, I was familiar with it. All of the things around me were very natural to me. While, when I learnt that some areas in other parts of the world had better living conditions and they were happier than me, I felt so depressed. I thought about this idea for days but could not fullly understand this. On the contrary, when I did not know this point, I lived happily.

Finally, the infromation provided which is related the events happening the world may be incorrect and some events are rumors, so the information about these kind of events is harmful to people' daily life. For instance, in 2003, the time whem SARS were spreading around China, all kinds of rumors were made. Bussinessman wanted to earn money, so they said that some kinds of medine were effective to cure SARS in fact these medines were useless. Recently, some rumors related to the shortage of salts, because salts can absorb rediation for nuclear plants and one nuclear plant in Japen have releare large amount of harmful materials whihc can emit rediation. Then, the price of salts increases for tem times then before. In all of these cases, knowing the events are really harmful.

Of course, some people need to know events happening around the world, such as politations and some businessman, these events may affect their career. However, for most of people around, knowing events happening around the world is unnecessry and may be a waste of time, some events are harmful. So, I think knowing events around the world is nucessary.

7月28日110319NA Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Movies and television have more negative effects than positive effects on the way young people behave.
When it comes to the queston of whether movies and television have more negative than positive effects on the way young people behave, people' opinions are not always the same as each other. Some people believe that they are the reason of their children' bad behaviors. While others believe that these media helps their children expand their horizon, develop strong resistence to harmful things, and also make them relaxed. Meanwhile, man's initiative provide them the freedom to choose what they like, and movies and television are just one of so many factors which can effect peopel' behaviors. Therefore, the saying that movies and television have more negative effects than positive effects on the way young people behave is not so reasonable.

To begin with, it is obvious that movies and televison have the benefit to broaden young people' horizon. Programs provided on the television are related to various subjects, such as economy, politic, science, technology, sport, and so forth. These programs provided on the TV or movies are up-to-date, easy to access, and widely available to young people. For instance, I am a student who study physics in university. One of my favourite program is called "nature world". It talks about events happened in the nature world, like volcanic eruption, hurricane, global warming, and analyzes the reasons which cause them, the effects of these events to human society. By watching these programs, I learnt so many things that our professors did not mentioned in the classes. And my experiences are not rare, everyone who wants to know the mysteries of the nature can do this through wacthing TV or movies.

Moreover, in most of the movies, the criminals are punished in the end. This gives young people who watch these movies a sign that if they do the same thing, they will be punished too. Thus, watching these movies helps young people distingish whihc is benefitial and which is baneful. When they face the same situations, the information they gethered from the movies give they the wisdom to choose the right side. If one gang member invited a student to take part in, then the student recalled the punishments that the gang members suffered in the jail, and their miserable destinies after they get out from there. Then, s/he decided not to involve in this activity.

Finally, when young people have made some mistakes or develop some bad behaviors such as somking or drinking, their parents and other people usually want to blame on the movies and television but it is not the case. The reason may be that after young people watching these media, and want to imitate the actions of the leading role in the movies or in television programs. When young people do something wrong, people begin to relate their mishaves to them. They just ignore other factors which are more influencial than these media. Their parents, teachers, friends all have significant effects on their behaves. Young people are spending more time with those people than they wactch television or movies. Another point is that before the programs in the television or the movies are shown to the public, they need to be censored, the ones which are allow to be screened are considered acceptable by the experts. Thus, it is nonsense to relate young people' misbehaves to them.

It is ture that movies and television have some bad effects on young people, but the violence scenes in them are limited. Therefore, to exaggerate the nagetive effects and diminish the positive ones are not vaild.

In the reading text, the author talks about some factors that may cause the the decline of birds in the United States. However, the professor in the lecture does not agree with the author, and she says that the arguments provided in the reading text are unconvincing.

First, contrary to what the author has said in the reading text that the decline of birds happens to all kinds of birds, the professor argues that some types of birds increase in number becasue of human activities. Some birds are flying above the streets in the streets in the urban areas that some residents even complain about this. Also, these birds attract hawks which pray on them.

Second, the professor points out that the need of new lands is less and less. New crops are created which can produce more products per unit land. So, the growing need of agricultural activities will not rely on wild areas but on new crops. This directly contradicts its counterpart in the reading text.

Third, the professor explains that the trend of using pesticides will not continue in the future. People are aware of the problems that pesticides do harm to birds now. They develop two ways to deal with this situation. One is to use less toxic pesticides and the other is using crops which have resistance to pests. No pesticides are needed to the new crops so they will not do harm to birds.

The athour of the reading text talks about three ways to address the decline of Torreya trees. On the contrary, the professor in the lecture does not agree with the author, and she says that none of these methods provide satisfactory solution to this problem.

First, unlike what has been said in the reading passage that relocate Torreya trees in its origional areas will help to prevent the decline, the professor states that the climate in this area has already changed a lot. She tells in the lecture that larger changes such as global warming and human has drained the wetland make northern part of Florida drier. So, it is unlikely  that Torreya trees can survive in this place.

Second, contrary to what has been proposed in the passage that moving Torreya trees to an entirely new place may be helpful, the professor says that this may cause unpredicted consquences. She further explains that another tree which had been moved by human to a new place had killed many native trees there. Some of the trees been killed are in danger or will become extinct. This directly contradicts its counterpart in the reading text.

Third. the professor points out that preserve Torreya in reserch certers will not be successful. The reason is that research centers can not keep large number and genetically diverse Terreya trees. Therefore, the trees in research centers can not resist to diseases in the long term as their counterparts in the wild places. As a result, the last solution is also disputed by the professor.

In the reading text the author talks about three reasons that buzzers should be banned. However, the speaker in the lecture says that the information provided in the passage is misleading, according to his personal experience as a buzzer.

First, contrary to what has been wrote in the passage that buzzers give incorrect messages about the products they talk about, the speaker states that this is not the fact. He says that buzzers are people who use one product and then consider this product to be really good. Thereafter, the company will hire them.

Second, the speaker argues that people become even more critical when they talk with a buzzer. They ask many question such as the price, the service, and how long the buzzer have used the product. If buzzers can not answer their question perfectly, they will not buy the product. This directly contradict its counterpart in the reading text.

Third, the speaker thinks that people who believe buzzers will do harm to social relationship are stupid. His reason is that buzzers are people who really talk about good products or services, those companies who provide bad products or services can not have the chances to hire buzzers. In addition, he explains that the phone service he buzzed is really great and people will love it after they try this service. This good experience can help people to be more trustful and open to others.

7月28日        10.04.24 NA Do you agree or dis agree, the way a person dressed is a good indication of his/her personality or charactor.
When you come across a road and see a man dressed in sport clothes, you may quickly make a conclusion that the man is interested in sports. Also, some people prefer to wear deep dark clothes, while others may love to buy light color clothes. According to some scientists, color can reflect one person's charactor to some extent. So, it is obvious that the way a person dressed can really indicate his/her personality. Let me figure it out as follows.

To begin with, we can see from our friends, family members, relatives that their clothes are in fact a good indication of their personality. We can find that those who are career-oriented and enjoy working often wear formal clothes. At the same time, people who have an artistic disposition often wear loosely and funky clothes. For example, my father is a teacher in a primary school. He loves his work and devotes most of time to prepare for the class, answer students' questions and so forth. So much does he love his work, he does not want to make his students feel strange to wear new clothes. So, he buys two suits of formal clothes which are totally the same to reduce his students' unconfortable feelings of his clothes. When you see my father pass by in the road, you can simplly find that he is a serious but kindly person.

Moreover, it is natural to wear clothes that are suitable to one's environment. If you always see one person often wears football team clothes, you can make a conclusion that this person loves playing football. I like playing football with my classmates on weekends. We often wear clothes which are similar to the famous football players when we play together. Doing this makes us feel that we are playing with those famous players in the playground. In fact, in my spare time, I wear my football team clothes too. It makes me feel a great sense of belonging to this game. Also it is a show off of my favorite sports.

Finally, we can simply distingish police officers, soliders, nurses and students because the clothes they weared are different. A polichman is required to wear formal clothes at work. So, we can easily know a policeman is coming from a long distance. The clothes he/she wears indicate that he/she is a police officer. As you can see, one main character of a police officer is his/her clothes.

Of course, personality or character is complex and may change as people grow older or something else happened in their life. While the fact is that as people' personality or character change, the clothes they wear will change with their personality or character. In this way, the way they dressed indicate their changes in personality or character. Therefore, according to this point and also based what I have discussed above, it is safe to draw the conclusion that the way a person dressed is a good indication of his/her personality or character.
