首先，不是很清楚你说的一件事情是什么意思，整个rising inventories（确切的说inventories）是作为整个句子的主语。其次，从意思上来看，not accompanied by的应该是increase而不是sales，重点是在increase，原句里也是这个意思，所以D选项的意思改变了。最后possibly和can还是有区别的，原句是can，不可以轻易改成possibly。
