I agree with above posts. 710 won't get you in or get you dinged automatically. But if you're applying for next fall, you have plenty of time to prepare and retake. I'm sure you'll do well next time around. In the worst case scenario, you can just use the 710 in your applications. Like opeman said, the rest of your profile matters a lot in addition to the numerics. Another key I cannot emphasis enough is research the schools thoroughly and have a set of well-executed essays. This is not just to get you in. Once you're in, this research will help you tremendously choose where to attend. You don't want to rely on ranking alone.
Having just gone through the applications myself I think it's a pretty random process. We heard people with 690 get in top 5 but 780 who get dinged based on profile alone. Then there are other intangibles. I was at the weekend for admitted students at a top 5 school and chatted with a fellow admit (non-Chinese Asian female). She said she's on the WL at Harvard because of her low GMAT score (640). But she's in at MIT. Needless to say, I was more than shocked. I'm not bashing at my school or MIT for admitting someone who is obvisouly weak in the numbers. But I was very curious what kind of spectacular background she must have. From our chat, I sensed that she had a letter of recommendation from an alum who is now the finance minister in her country. There ... I'll bet she must be the exception, not the rule.
Good luck!
