Well, my bank is a share holding commercial bank, not a foreign bank. So if you have oxford MBA, your chance of promotin will certainly increase. All of my colleagues returned from UK with an MBA Degree got promoted very soon. For foreign banks, I do think they will even more evaluate this than the native banks.

same background as moi.  I was working in a foreign bank as a relationship manager as well, when I left for Oxford 3 yrs ago.  Regarding your question, that really depends on how you negotiate with your boss.  I didn't return to the bank after my study.  But even if I had, I don't think I would have too many chances for big promotion, as there weren't many positions available.  And foreign banks in Shanghai are already too localised, in my opinion.  robably that's the reason i didn't go back.

Actually I'm working in the marketing dept of a foreign bank and am weighing whether to chase for such degree. Also, are there any native Chinese, in your bank, that are promoted to senior management (GM of a branch etc)

You definitely make great sense.

Nevertheless, what wonderpiece bro says is also what I concern. Personaly, I feel that personal network accumulated might count more in the commercial banking arena.

As well, I personally feel that native banks care more about the degrees and brands. While in foreign banks, the bosses care more about the profits one can earn :-)

昨天接到SALLY的通知，TEMPLETON 已经同意录取我了。不过宿舍还要等通知。想不到牛津的宿舍这么难找，我第二轮的找宿舍都这么困难，那第三，第四轮的不知道该怎么办了。

是比以前难了，我当初是五月份拿到Templeton的通知，六月份定下宿舍的。不过那个时候Templeton一共不到60个人，现在可不一样了。实在不行就试着借外面的房子咯。商学院附近有一些公寓是专借给学生的，你可以单租，也可以跟别人合租
