我之前选的C，觉得CE都是平行的，而且表达上C的意思更合理，enhance performance and preparation 比 enhancing performance and preparing them for competition感觉更顺呀~

其次，按照C的平行，是enhance preparation，根据句意理解的了吗？

不可以的哈，没有enhance preparation这种用法的，这就是为什么正确答案E必须把enhance和prepare拆开作为并列2个动词的原因
