纽约没有合适的msf program，我比较想上个finance的degree，像NYU没有这种degree，columbia好像有一个但太难进了。我申了NYU的MBA，被waitlist了估计没戏。不过搬到NJ倒是一个好主意，我就算跑也避免了crosstown了

You can take Amtrak from Penn Station to Villanova (transferring at 30th St Station) Monday through Thursday, just that you won't be able to hang out with classmates and doing group projects will be pretty hard. With a greencard, you'll have a lot more options than we did as international students back then. Middle market investment banking and equity research, boutique shops are all options for you, but of course you have to network hard.

Well you should have at least to try columbia MSFE
You can wait till next year when you get your green card. You should have a good chance. I am admitted to the program this year. I have a slightly higher gpa but I study electrical engineering

Wow that's impressive, congratulation! Yeah I kind of regretted it that I didn't apply. Financial engineering sounds a little intimidating to me haha. But you obviously have better background for that. I actually still want to get my MBA a few years later. I applied for Cornell, NYU and Columbia MBA this year, just trying, and I was rejected by Columbia and waitlisted by NYU and Cornell, not much hope there. I guess I need more work experience so I'm looking for a MSF degree to break into the finance industry, which I prefer over accounting. Anyway thanks to all your help! Keep in touch!

noooo, i did not apply financial engineering. i do not like financial engineering either. not exciting for me. i want to work in finance industry as well. i was talking about the Columbia Business School MSc in financial economics program. it is called MSFE. although it is highly mathematical, i think it is a great way to break into buyside firms. i heard professors refer students to companies.

If that does not fit your needs, maybe work for two more years and then MBA. or perhaps part-time MBA which is easier to get in. anyway, you sound pretty intelligent so you know what is best for you. good luck with everything!
