Maybe i could just give you a simple example. You went to a customer and planned to do a presentation to promote the products of your company. But during the presentation, you suddenly found that the battery of your laptop was running out and you forgot to bring your power supply. As a result, you had to end the presentation in a hurry. The originally projected effect has not achieved. What did you learn from this? Very simple: you know that in the future you should be fully prepared to take actions ahead of time to kill the potentially surprising risks. Make sure it will never happen again. I personally think the purpose of this essay is to remind MBA candidates of being able to learn precious experiences from the past. Even it might be trivial, but in terms of real business, a trivial mistake may be big enough to introduce disasters. If he/she does not have such a capability at all, it will be hardly imagined how well he/she would be successful in the future. |
