24. The stimulus: how do we know if a new idea has taken hold? We can know by observing if the term for the idea has passed into common use, and dic. editors have professional opinion on whether a term has passed into common use.

The gap is between "idea taking hold" and "the term for the idea passing into common use". This is where you identify the assumption.

B is simply a repeat of "editors know whether a term has passed into common use". Besides, who said dictionary editors have to "have exact numerical criteria for telling when a word has passed into common usage." to know whether a word has passed into common usage?  

For the record: i asked about your views on B in order to know your reasoning process, which i believe would help you shun such pitfall in the furture.  it seems that you didn't get it.

8好意思斑竹，上次偷懒所以没回答为啥选B，我看了分析，可还是觉得没懂，我酱紫想的，我觉得One sure way you can tell how quickly a new idea ?for example, the idea of "privatization" is taking hold among the population is to monitor how fast the word or words expressing that particular idea are passing into common usage.只是障眼法,跟结论没有太大关系，关键是后面Professional opinions of whether or not words can indeed be said to have passed into common usage are available from dictionary editors, who are vitally concerned with this question.

从中可以得知  whether or not words can indeed be said to have passed into common usage are available from dictionary editors那假设应该是基于dc. editor有评价得标准,否则怎么评判是否passed into common usage呢,所以选了B,没明白斑竹说得

"The gap is between "idea taking hold" and "the term for the idea passing into common use". This is where you identify the assumption."到底是怎样得一个逻辑关系再这个GAP里,如何看出D提到得"distortion"?

我假设题老是做不好,就是之间得GAP总也找不清楚,请斑竹和NN们指教
