Northwestern has already sent out interview invites.

Hi Brettthompson. Thanks for your information. Are you sure the PhD Program of Kellogg OB has sent out the invites? As I know, they sent out the interviews on Feb. 25 last year. It is so early this year.

Thanks, Walder,

i do not have any other info, but would like to share with your guys if i hear from anyone. i just looked at your list again. I expect that most of the top programs on your list would send out offers in the next two or three weeks. You should hear from them by early March or mid March to the latest. Good luck!!

Hi Brett. You know OB so much. Are you now in the states? Are you planning to transfer the program to OB? Or you are now in an OB program? Can you offer me some advices? Thanks a lot.

Hi, yes, i am in an OB program. I would love to give you some suggestions; but only my personal opinions. I would like you to check with the real experts in the field rather than relying on what i say.

You have a good list. Columbia and NYU are great schools. But their faculty seem stronger in the Micro side. Stuart just moved to Columbia, well-known in strategy-related topics. NYU has some strong junior faculty. They seem to have a new strategy program. The OB of Northwestern is among the best. Chicago is still kind of economics-oriented. If I am not mistaken, their OB is very Micro-focused. But they have a marco-marketing program. I do not know which one you applied to. Austin and UNC are good. The program in Austin is kind of big. UNC also has a very small strategy program. do not know much about Emory. I expect they have a small program as well. What is UIC? Do you mean UIUC?

Hope this helps. Keep me posted if there is any further question.

Thanks Brett. Your knowledge is fab. Since I ever attended the PhD recruiting meeting last year and met the coordinators of these schools, I felt B-school OB is very selective. I admire you so much.

What I applied to in Northwestern is a joint program. Do you have any idea on it? Did it also send out the interviews? Thanks.

Did you get some offers from other programs except for this one you are studying? How about the intervews and the time they notified you the offer? TIA!

Hi, Walder,

Almost all the programs in B-school are extermely selective, espeically the top schools. For OB and management, there seem to be more american students since this kind of program tends to have relatively stricter language requirement. But i think it is just generally as selective as most othe majors in b-schools, if excluding finance. The joint-program at Northwestern probably has the same timeline as the MORS. But do not panic. Sometimes, schools prefer to first interview some top candidates. I think you would hear back from most of the programs by the end of Feb or early March. The next two weeks would be kind of critical. Many schools call their final candidates after shortlisting them. So, the general rule is from now until early March, no news normally means bad news, at least for top programs. There may be some exceptions. Few schools used to send out offers without interviews. Good luck!

BTW, i sent another message to your mailbox.
