化工PhD转finance，恳请给位牛人给建议

请教各位大牛高见，

  本人北美化工top20毕业，在Pharma biotech工作2年（29岁），做project management，工作主要就是move新药进入临床。工作难有大发展，几经思索决定申MBA，打算转finance方向，未奢望入投行，普通bank，funds或企业均可。希望之后能做化工、制药，生物方面的financial analysis 工作，不想让PhD完全没用了。但目前门外汉，equity/risk research 方向，corporate finance 具体分得不是很清楚。我应该定位在何处?虽然网上查阅不少，但还是完全无头绪。

  目前家在Ohio，这附近企业不少，首选Ohio state，不知几率如何？另外，Undergraduate GPA 3.8，graduate GPA 3.95，无家庭身份之忧，有一幼童，父母照看，领导工作稳定支持我再发展。但劣势是要重考GMAT，下定决心的有些晚，不知还来得及吗。恳请诸位不吝赐教。

我觉得来得及。只转function，不转行业，这个career goal可行。事实上有些商学院还是很喜欢理工背景的学生，因为目前很多商业决定都需要量化统计。因为不懂finance，所以才去学，所以这个也没问题。你需要build a case to show why b-schools have to admit you to help you succeed and why you want to develop in Finance.

OSU不需要考GMAT，PHD有免考。
但这年头考MBA转行...真的很难有效

都有PhD了，MBA没有什么用了吧？真想做生化equity的analysis直接CFA，比MBA有用很多，又简单省钱自己自学就可以了

非常感谢诸位回复，因为是工科，数学学得比较多且成绩全A，SPSS这些软件都没什么问题，略懂SAS，MatLab（平时用的少点），这些可能对analyst有点用。楼上说的CFA，我在准备，初级阶段。主要是没有相关专业学位，我很难break in，雇主也不相信，也没相关networking，被动很多。也是思索良久，最终下定决心，联系推荐人，进入实质准备阶段。

很感谢诸位的意见，以后常驻本版，还有很多要学习啊。

Quite different. I have many friends with PhD/CFA L3 or PhD/CPA
Still they could not make the career transition happen. Although nowadays an MBA is not as powerful as it was, it's still better than CFA L3 for career switch.
For sure, PhD/CFA/MBA would be much better.

more titles are always better, but it is worth it?
for LZ's purpose a Phd and CFA is more than enough, but again if you are able to do more go for it.

I personally don't see a point in doing MBA if you really want to become an analyst, it is not even relevant. CFA will be the best choice and maybe master of finance will help too.

谢过楼上诸位，开心还有同道中人。的确，生化背景在美就业面有限也是迫使我调整的原因之一，MBA focus on finance，可做analyst，也可涉猎相关领域。CFA有用，可锦上添花，但想靠它入门很难。我会尽力多尝试，transit总是很辛苦。
