13OG一道语法题目（104）求教！

这里答案是给的C。我自己看到这题没有头绪，看答案也没太明白
首先，为什么AB 中的coordinating 不行呢？OG上是说根据capitalized来判定应该要用过去时，但是我觉得动作的发出者都是BP这个人啊，不能当伴随状语么？
其次，ABE中的them为什么说指代不清呢？不是都是指代book illustrations 吗？
对于D，我觉得就是句子里面有着两个谓语动词所以错。可是分词不是可以当状语吗？...

还有就是可以给我讲讲V-ing，或者过去分词修饰吗。。
我觉得我在分词修饰这一块好混乱，老是错。。。
求指教~
