just had my alum interview yesterday evening with a member of the class'04. Nice experience overall. One of the most prepared interviewers I had so far. Admission office seemed to be very organized and had sent her my resume ahead of time. She said at the beginning that she had read it a few times. And boy, did she not know every single detail about my resume! I don't know if this is a general policy with Yale SOM or just this interviewer, but I'd say, do go over your essays and resume before hand. I almost got caught off guard here and there... A few interesting questions stood out (they could be very well individually based, but I'll post them anyway): 1. what do I think a woman's role is in business? how do I plan to overcome the fact that women are such minority in top level managemetn? She then moved on to the top news of yesterday (Carly Fioriona was forced to resign from HP) and my views on it. I barely heard the news on my way to the interview. So I was genuinely surprised she'd asked me. 2. What is the most interesting place I have traveled? 3. Name the most recent book I read. Overall, she still had lots of questions such as why MBA, why Yale etc. But they are very nicely integrated w/ other questions. Good luck to all! |
