求问prep08的197题的比较问题

这道题选B，我明白其它选项为什么错，但是不明白B是什么结构。

我看了prep08的语法笔记对B的解释: 原句补完整：Soaring television costs accounted for more than half the spending in the presidential campaign of 1992, a greater proportion than（the proportion）（television costs had accounted for of the spending）in any previous election ；这个句子中只是单个名词(proportion)的比较，所以不需要考虑than后面补出主谓，只补出介词短语就够了，不用担心后面的介词短语in any previou election没有平行对象

但我还是不太明白，如果是proportion的比较，为什么proportion可以省略？省略之后不就是 proportion 和 in any previous election 的比较了么？
又或者这只是时间状语的比较？但状语的比较也和前面的proportion不平行呀。。。。

如何快速答题：
Step 1：SVO，accounted 过去时，so 去掉DE
Step 2：ABC差别在代词，X 《－》Y的比较要求平行。X=... proportion，所以Y＝proportion of ... in any previous elecion
so 去掉AC。

两边比较的东西
相同的部分可以省略掉 也就是解释里写的 括号里的部分
in any previous election 是修饰proportion的 noun modifier

楼上错了，也有很多不可以省略的例子。

在平行结构里，省略的前提是不引起歧义。如果会令读者歧义ambiguous，那么不可以省略。
AMBIGUOUS这是OG和MANHATTAN都再三提到的标准。

对，我最近做题的时候就是发现正确选项有的 主语 和 谓语 都省略了，有的只有 主语 省略了，还有的主谓都没有省略，结果开始对各种比较结构晕得不得了T T。。。看来只能用ambiguous来判断了是么？
