Q: E选项中and so 都是连词为什么可以连用？
A: 我认为这里的so 其实是修饰restricted ，they are so restricted。。。，只是把so 前置了

Q: D的错误原因是因为thus restricted修饰前面紧邻的adulthood吗？
A: 我觉得D 改变了原文的意思，原文中 to reach adulthood表示目的，而D中并没有强调这一点

Q: E中and so they are中的they有没有指代模糊的问题？
A: 既然有and，必然存在并列，所以and引导的句子其实与主句并列，所以 they 指代的是mountain yellow-legged frogs

因为是这里是被动，在D选项就变成了主动，yellow-legged不可能主动restricted to deeper bodies, 肯定是被动restricted，所以D是错的

我总觉得这个除了wordy之外，还有点别的毛病。。。

除了D和E，ABC都和前面的frogs不一致，（什么unlike frogs,肯定是一种动物，所以it啊in啊什么的都不对），所以肯定错的

看了LZ的问题和前面的回复，我觉得有些问题必须要说明下。
针对LZ的问题，1，and so 这么用在一起一点问题都没有，（这点LZ应加强语法训练）2，D选项的主要问题是由于用了until they reach adulthood作从句，造成了thus restricted 很容易被认为是连接until。。。这个从句来修饰这个从句的状语。所以造成了句意的混乱，所以错了。3，E选项中and so和主句并列，所以they指代主语frogs一点问题都没有，无指代错误。
