【求助】同一句话中it和its可以指代不同的词吗？Verbal SC92问题！！

92.Schistosomiasis, a disease caused by a parasitic worm, is prevalent in hot, humid climates, and it has become more widespread as irrigation projects have enlaged the habitat of the freshwater snails that are the parasite's hosts for part of its life cycle.

根据句意it指代的是Schistosoomiasis而划线部分的its根据官方解答指代的是parasite's。根据曼哈顿中关于指代的讲解，同一句中的it和its应该是指代的同一个先行词，所以我认为这里有指代不清的问题！
然后在论坛看了有同学引用的RON的回帖还是没明白：

* "Schistosomiasis" and "it" are both SUBJECTS --> they are parallel --> we'll tolerate the ambiguity.
* "parasite's" and "its" are both POSSESSIVES --> they are parallel --> we'll tolerate the ambiguity.

REMEMBER -- PRONOUN AMBIGUITY IS NOT AN ABSOLUTE RULE.
NOT ALL AMBIGUOUS PRONOUNS ARE INCORRECT.

问题：1，难道一句话中it和its可以指代不同的词吗？
          2，坛子里关于its到底指代谁好像也有争议，因为感觉根据语义都说的通的。求解？？？

"parasite's" and "its" are both POSSESSIVES --> they are parallel --> we'll tolerate the ambiguity.
这句话的意思是作者之所以用its是因为不想把parasite's再重复一遍。
否则这句话变成：
that are the parasite's hosts for part of the parasite's life cycle。

你要理解英文代词就那么一个，不用its能用啥？不像法语，有公母有指人指物的那么“丰富”。
我也第一次看到这种句子。

谢谢你的回答~~但是不明白的是，前一句中的it，（如果我没有弄错的话）应该是指代主语Schistosomiasis的，那么句子里it指这个病，its又指寄生虫，这样一个句子中的同一个代词指一样的东西用法合理吗？与其犯这个错误，我觉得重复更好，起码能避免这个错啊。

饿哦 记错了 是“非所有格的代词通常不能指代所有格”

其实没那么复杂。同一句话中两个同样的代词可以指代不同对象，只要语义合理即可。本题D中楼主结尾的cycle少写了一个s，应该是cycles。这样的话重复parasite是可以的，但是一个parasite只能有一个cycle，故D结尾语义错误。
