楼主好，我也是准备出国留学的学生，目前也正纠结于找不找中介呢，因为我对career goal， essay啊什么也是没有经验，不知道该怎么写。看楼主的申请也是一波三折，那楼主觉得自己设计career goal什么的行么？还是中介给设计的比较好？

楼主爱看莎士比亚剧的habit都不能吸引人的话，我等爱唱歌爱打羽毛球的普通大众还算有habit么？

Career goal should be reasonable and achievable, people need to do some research to verify its feasibility.
As for Shakespeare,it will help a lot if you apply for undergraduate. Don't count on interests.
Graduate schools care more about professional experience.

Yeah well, all those things were based on the knowledge (assumption, actually, as it turned out) that I was professionally competitive enough and maybe some slight uniqueness could make me stand out. I wasn't counting on that either, but the fact was it helped out.

As for career goal, of course I didn't choose it randomly or whatever just to make it sounds special. I did my research and I thought it was convincing. Even though most of the school interviewed me and declined me (fact is we don't even know if they declined me because of the seemingly unreasonable career goal or what), some did buy it. I know now it was risky, but I'm grateful for UVa and SMU, because they believe that I am capable.

Thanks for your notes anyway.

其实我的心得第四点已经表达了我的立场了。
中介给你的信息和服务（包括设计career goal，写文书等）你都可以从其他途径获取，但你需要查阅很多很多前人的经验才能降低自己的失误率。就看你是愿意花钱，还是愿意花时间花精力来琢磨这些事情了。

但其实当时，由于自己过去的经历比较散，并没有清晰的头绪和职业规划，如果是我自己设计我的career goal，我八成也会写做审计。但中介结合我的实习设计了职业规划，把我之前的经历都串起来了，写成文书之后感觉过去的事情都是为了职业发展做的准备。

所以没所谓自己设计的好还是中介设计的好，如果你自己DIY也能达到这个目的当然也好。重要的是结合你的个人经历，让你的career goal sounds reasonable. 我之前也说了，UVa defer我的第一次正是因为他们觉得我的career goal wasn't reasonable enough. 但好在他们给了我二次机会，我也把握住了，让他们相信了我的职业目标是合理的、可实现的。

你楼下的Cindy也说了，grad更看重professional experiences，不太看重这些东西。
所以还是着重软实力培养吧，这些东西都是锦上添花的。

我当初写莎士比亚也不是为了凭借它脱颖而出，而是为了在申请者们成绩、实习都差不多的时候，adcom难以抉择的时候，可能凭借这一点获得更多的关注。
