纠结to protect的选项，看了别人的解释：不用to protect是因为逻辑不通（兽皮盾是必要装备，为了保护士兵。。。） 。我有另外个想法：后面的phrase应该不是状语，应当是个修饰equipment的非限定性定语（兽皮盾是保护士兵的必要装备），所以不能用to do。不知道这样理解可不可以？
