Japan and Korea are totally different from China.
As far as I know, the companies all have very strict hierarchy. If you want to be promoted, you have to work very hard as business executive for 3-5 years and then as a junior manager if possible. Fast promotion is rare in Japanese companies.
Last time I even heard that Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has a 10 to 12 years engineer education plan before a person becomes a senior engineer.
They are also very detail driven. The boss would judge even every single typo error in your emails. And he would be happy to see a staff works till mid night and appear at 8 am in next morning.
Even in science, they are more conservative. They have Japanese journals and some researchers refused English journals. We know Japan won a lot of Nobel Prize and many of them were totally educated inside Japan. |
