Last year there also were candidates who got waitlisted by MIT Sloan but didn't conduct an interview prior.

As a matter of fact, I sincerely hope every of my classmates would be high-calibered if I were to get admitted by MIT Sloan. According to Shanshui, these three Chinese deferrals are really competitive and shinning.

An Admissions Officer of a top b-school told me that if the AdCom sees you can't successfully land a job post MBA based on your career goals, then you will not be admitted even though you're phenomenal in data points. So it's pretty tough for me to pursue an IB/IM job on the basis of my past career treks, at least in the eyes of AdCom members. From this angle, my opportunity is very slim.

Reminder: you guys who haven't submitted your application yet must put a series of very practical short-term, long-term and grand goals in your essays. Just don't follow my suit.

Anyway, waiting list is not a bad news.  Good luck.

Besides, can anybody share some background with us?  I applied for round 2 and have not received any information yet.

Tell you guys a piece of insider info. If a school's interviews are only by invitation, you can also conduct a couple of alumni informal interviews to support your candidacy by asking your interviewers to issue a recommendation on your behalf. At least one associate director of a top school told me so. Sure, if you can't convince your interviewers, such an effort may do a disservice to your candidacy. If you speak not-convincing-enough English, just forget about such an effort and look for other ways to boost up your candidacy. The best way is to convince/impress those alumni who are working in the same industry that you plan on pursuing post MBA. Picking up Chinese Alumni as your informal interviewers may not be a smart choice, if you are also a Chinese candidate. In a word, you should avoid any conflict of interests throughout the informal interview process.

If you wish to conduct informal interviews with alumni, just shoot a piece of email to its Admissions Office or Alumni Relations. For the most part, the school always likes candidates who have shown very strong interest in attending the very school. If you get a reply, it shows such informal interviews are encouraged by the school and also indicates that the school are interested in your application. The informal interview operations may not apply to all top b-schools.

Best luck of those who are applying to b-schools.
