我的问题是，答案说lead不是leads因为主语是inventories复数。可是还有一种是主语是ving开头的或者条件状语开头的从句，谓语一定是单数。请问如何区分ving开头的是单数还是复数

这个主语是inventories吧，rising是adj,其他的那个是动名词的时候，做为主语才按照这个来判别后面的谓语。我觉的你可能需要把基础的先看一看，要不脑子会乱的。

个人见解 rising在这里作为adj 不做动名词因为 rise在作动词(或者说是不及物)的时候 一般不用rise inventories 习惯用raise或increase inventories
