请问，美国研究生金融专业排名和金融工程专业排名是不是一样？谁能提供一份金融工程的专业排名？

我们在网上能找到的金融的排名其实是MBA下的金融track的排名，对应届学生申请没有什么帮助。普硕的金融是没有专业排名的，金融工程也没有人做过排名，主要是学校不多。这里有个人写了一些金融工程的学校，你可以看看http://blog.sina.com.cn/s/blog_b21e7a910101d95d.html。但也都没有专业排名，只能按照申请难度，综合排名来算了。

Hi my friend, and thanks for your question! Master’s of Finance and Master’s of Financial Engineering are two very different programs. Also, there are no official rankings for the schools with graduate degrees in these areas. However, there are unofficial, generally recognized reputations that you can use as a reference. The first tier top programs would be CMU, NYU, Berkeley, and Columbia. The second tier schools are Rutgers, Baruch, Cornell, and GIT. Finally,the third tier includes BU, Fordham, and UIUC.

Hi Frank, thanks very much for your information. I've noted that you are very knowledgeable. Could you please also kindly provide your viewpoint about unofficial rankings for Master's of Finance program? For example, what's the generally recognized first, second and third tiers? Currently, I have received admission from Tulane and UMD and possibly the admission decision for both JHU and Case will be available on Jan. 15, 2014. If I intend to work in China after completing MSF program but would like to get some internship opportunities in the US if possible, which program is better, Tulane or UMD? If I also get admission from JHU and Case, what is your suggested priority order among the aforesaid four MSF programs? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi my friend, and thanks for following up! It is my pleasure to help. For MSF programs, there is also no official ranking. However, the generally recognized unofficial ranking is: first tier – MIT, Rochester, Vanderbilt, BC, and WUSTL; second tier – UIUC, UT Austin, and JHU; third tier – Syracuse, CWRU, Clark, Florida, Tulane, and so on. In your situation, I think Tulane is definitely a better option. It has a better reputation and alumni network. These would both bring great benefits if you want to land an internship in the States. Hi Frank, I've asked your idea about comparison on Tulane and UMD’s MSF program before. Recently, after receiving admission from CWRU and JHU, I've declined both Tulane and UMD's offer of admission. Currently, I'm comparing the MSF programs of CWRU and JHU. I intend to work in China after completing MSF program and if possible I would also like to get some internship opportunities in the US. I've almost decided to choose JHU. However, I am a little hesitant after hearing some negative comments from JHU's current students. Under such case, do you think JHU's MSF program is a better choice for me?

Hi there, my friend. Great to hear from you again! I agree that JHU is a better option for you given your current situation. The truth is that it is very hard for international students like you to secure a full-time job no matter which program you choose. However, comparatively JHU has a better reputation and a great alumni network. Also, their career service is one of the best. With an MSF from JHU, you will have a much better chance of finding a job after graduation. Since you want to return to China, JHU’s solid general ranking will be another advantage, as well.
