关于比较题，语法笔记PREP 187 和PREP197，究竟什么时候能省略主谓，什么时候不行啊？

现在在做比较题的归类，语法笔记中有几题实在不明白，为啥有时候比较句里可以省略主谓如IT WAS，有时候又不行呢？到底啥规律呢？求高手解答啊！！
187. (GWD-1-Q32)
To develop more accurate population forecasts, demographers have to know a great deal more than now about the social and economic determinants of fertility.

A. have to know a great deal more than now about the social and economic

B. have to know a great deal more than they do now about the social and economical

C. would have to know a great deal more than they do now about the social and economical

D. would have to know a great deal more than they do now about the social and economic   

E. would have to know a great deal more than now about the social and economic

此题选D，语法笔记还给了个类似的题目：

大全 10.  A large rise in the number of housing starts in the coming year should boost new construction dollars by several billion dollars, making the construction industry’s economic health much more robust than five years ago.
(A) making the construction industry’s economic health much more robust than five years ago
(B) and make the construction industry’s economic health much more robust than five years ago

Key: C 而不是A，一定要加it was
然后到了197题，就发现 比较句里不用加主谓 如it was了，实在是困扰啊！
197. (GWD-1-Q16)
Soaring television costs accounted for more than half the spending in the presidential campaign of 1992, a greater proportion than it was in any previous election.

A. a greater proportion than it was

B. a greater proportion than

C. a greater proportion than they have been

D. which is greater than was so      

  E. which is greater than it has been

此题选B而不是选A！

语法笔记也给了一个类似的题，我也一并贴出来：
OG10- 198. Although Napoleon's army entered Russia with far more supplies than they had in their previous campaigns, it had provisions for only twenty-four days.
(A) they had in their previous campaigns
(B) their previous campaigns had had
(C) they had for any previous campaign
(D) in their previous campaigns
(E) for any previous campaign
答案是E

凌乱了！求解释！

more than, 的比较对象要在前后相邻。
OG10-198 A选项中的数不正确。 it had provisions for only twenty-four days.

主语比较：
1. 主系表结构，可以省略谓语直接than主语
eg He runs faster than me.
2. 有宾语情况下，加上v
eg I like eat pizza than you do.

注意区别 如果第二种you后do省略
I like eat pizza than you.
引起歧义：吃你，我更喜欢吃披萨。

宾语、介宾比较：than后直接带
介宾结构必须确定是不是介宾，不要被修饰主语的介短迷惑

状语比较：than后直接加，than usual/ever before等
（可以详参曼哈顿语法）

这个我知道，但是总感觉无法对号入座上面几道题呢！那上面几道题到底是在比较主语宾语还是什么罗？？

我认为省略的意义在于省略掉重复的部分，前提是保证语义清晰，比较对象对等

这里我都找不到合理重复的部分，必须申明比较对象，五年前的什么

Soaring television costs accounted for more than half the spending in the presidential campaign of 1992, a greater proportion =（more than half the spending in the presidential campaign of 1992） than （proportion） in any previous election.


Although Napoleon's army entered Russia with far more supplies than （supplies） in their previous campaigns, it had provisions for only twenty-four days.

是挺凌乱的 语义和语法的结合

这样理解不知道对不对：
187. To develop more accurate population forecasts, demographers would have to know a great deal more than they do now about the social and economic determinants of fertility.
这个now作为时间状语在比较句的后半句，而前半句找不到任何时间状语跟它比较，所以只能把后半句句子补全来做句子和句子的比较。
同样，这题：  A large rise in the number of housing starts in the coming year should boost new construction dollars by several billion dollars, (C) making the construction industry’s economic health much more robust than it was five years ago
也是five years ago在前面找不到可以对比的时间状语，所以把句子补全了。

而后面两题就不一样，只是一个词语和词语的比较，所以不用搞这么复杂：
197. (GWD-1-Q16)
Soaring television costs accounted for more than half the spending in the presidential campaign of 1992, a greater proportion than (the proportion) in any previous election.

语法笔记上说：这个句子中只是单个名词(proportion)的比 较，所以不需要考虑than后面补出主谓，只补出介词短语就够了，不用担心后面的介词短语in any previou election没有平行对象.
虽然我也不知道为啥这时候就不用担心介词短语没有平行对象。

但
OG10- 198. Although Napoleon's army entered Russia with far more supplies than for any previous campaign, it had provisions for only twenty-four days.
是with far more supplies 和for any previous campaign两个介词短语比较，所以前面的主谓可以省略。
不知道对不对

恩～前两题我有见过一个帖子 专门说比较中的省略的
其中有提到比时间的，前面有时间后面直接跟时间，没的，补足
帖子总结挺好，虽然还是有点抽象，知道规则但是有些句子很迷惑，那个贴你可以搜一下
后面两个是属于比较常规的，曼哈顿上有解释的，相对好判断

拿破仑的栗子是supplies的比较，配合with 和for就没有歧义了，所以不需要补出了。
