Working for another year might not necessarily mean returning to your previous firm. You might also work hard to make your start-up take off.
You definitely have a better chance for lower ranking schools because of less competition. However, top schools, say, top 15, would generally be more worthwhile going for in terms of spending $150k and two years, and more importantly, the network with the smartest and brightest people.
Be realistic, but don't simply pre-assume which tier of schools would better guarantee you a spot. Quitting job is not advised, yet not the end of world either. You can do a lot to make up. Do the research. Talk to alums. Know where is your chance and how you can tell your story well. Successful applicants start with knowing whom they are, what schools have to offer and how to link the two together. |
