Thanks a lot for your helpful comments on both threads, truly appreciated!
I don't disagree that a rigid filtering would screen off less serious candidates.
Trust me, I'm extremely serious and dedicated to invest the next 2 years into MBA studies in all aspects.
What I'm trying to negotiate is exactly my belief that GMAT, at this stage, has little correlation to "prove" anything about my candidacy. If UST thinks I'm a "border line case" which they need to review my GMAT score before they can take me in, I think then I must have under performed in the interviews.
By the way, HKU has a written policy to consider waiving GMAT for strong candidates with 7 years of experience, I think that's a fair approach. At this stage of life, GMAT score really can't demonstrate any correlation to career success - that's what I tend to believe.
