Anation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculumuntil they enter college. Should a nation equip all students with thesame national curriculum until they enter college? Refering to this issue, people’s opinions diverse. For my view, although I admit this way surely bringssome good effects, it is not always the case under a variety of conditions. Admitedly, learning the same nationalcurriculum can open the students’ horizontal and extend their view. Taking anexample, there are all kinds of students who have different interests. If theyenter the society, they may face a lot of difficulties when the field they areinterested have little chances. While if they study the same curriculum earlier, they should have knowledge and skills on more fields. Therefore, requiringstudents to study the same national curriculum can surely have its merits.
However, under many circumstances, it isnot practical to put it into practice. It is certain that letting all studentsreceive the same curriculum will bring gargantuan costs. Some states orprovinces of a nation may be wealthy and affording the huge expense is notdifficult. But some states may have less financial power to pay the bill and ifthis plan is implemented, the fields except for education may suffer from lackof money. Thus, it is not a reasonable plan.
In addition, even though the plan isfeasible all around the country. It is not necessary ,too. One famous Chineseeducator Confusion said that education should always serve for people. Somestudents may have their own intrestes and dreams and they should have had timeto strive for it. But the studying of the curriculum will spend a lot of timewithout doubt. On the other hand, many schools and colleges are focused on onemajor ,such as arts school. Learning the curriculum may be not bad but surelyunnecessary. To an extent, it’s a educational waste.
On balance, the author’s assertion, although having its merits, suffers from serious drawbacks. In my view, in someoccasions ,it is feasible, but the feasibility should depend on the conditions. |
