我不理解的是如果E选项中的it能够指代The growth of the global economy between 1990 and 2000 ，那么A选项中的it为什么不能指代Between 1990 and 2000 the global economy。it指代一般不都是指代同名同物吗。

但是错误的去分点不是这个it

觉得这题貌似考的是平行啊~说下我的思路：
A 、the global economy grew 和 it did 平行 ，先保留
B、the growth 和that 平行，后面的from when 不确定，先保留
C、曼哈顿第十三章P261页“other comparison construction”部分有讲到用exceed比较时，前后成分要平行，该选项违背了这一规则
D、同c
E、同c
下面来看保留下来的A、B选项，因为不确定B中from when 是否正确，所以把注意集中在这两个选项的前半部分：
根据曼哈顿的VAN（verb>adj>noun）法则，排除B，确定A~
