Ving”
                                               其二,“,ving  “到底失没失去作定语的功能
进入正题;

.Building on civilizations that preceded them in coastal Peru, the Mochica developed their own elaborate society, based on the cultivation of such crops ascorn and beans, the harvesting of fish and seafood, and the exploitation of otherwild and domestic resources

95.The peaks of a mountain range, acting like rocks in a streambed, produce ripples in the air flowing over them;the resulting flow pattern, with crests and troughs that remain stationary although the air that forms them is moving rapidly, is known as "standing waves".

I , lying on the beach, Look at the people。这句话是中lying on the beach 是一个定语吗?
He,driving a truck ,earns a living

开始我们今天的重点;

http://forum.chasedream.com/thread-764753-1-1.html
1•I和II相对简单明确,不再赘述;
2•看到逗号与V-ing搭配出现在句尾时,要首先从意思上考察它的作用是什么,再根据上面总结的规则来判断选项呈现出的形式是否可以正确起到该作用;
Though called a sea, the landlocked Caspian is actually the largest lake on Earth, covering more than four times the surface area of its closest rival in size, North America’s Lake Superior)
b) V-ing表示伴随状语时,其逻辑主语必是主句主语,即主语主语能够发出V-ing的动作,且V-ing动作发生在主句动作发生的过程内;
c) V-ing表示结果状语时,其没有单纯的逻辑主语,造成V-ing动作的原因是整个主句主谓描述的内容;
4•如果一个V-ing不能起到上述的3个作用中的任何一个的话,那么这个V应该是以谓语的形式出现;

我们仅从逻辑方面来看jeffery2541兄举的例子;the landlocked Caspian is actually the largest lake on Earth, covering more than ……
jiffery 2541兄和miazhong姐都认为这种类型属于”,ving"对主语的被充都认为是作主语定语,要想在这里硬生生把定语和状语分开来实在不容易,这也是为什么论坛从来没有人对这种说法提出质疑的原因;我试着用一个例子对比一下来让大家看的明白一些 ;

一例三年得,一吟双泪流的例子;

是最大的湖  the landlocked Caspian covering more than …… is actually the largest lake on Earth

内陆海是最大的湖,覆盖接近……  the landlocked Caspian is actually the largest lake on Earth, covering more than ……

OG12-30For members of the seventeenth-century Ashanti nation in Africa, animal-hide shields with wooden frames were essential items of military equipment, a method to protect warriors against enemy arrows and spears.
  A. a method to protect
  B. as a method protecting
  C. Protecting(C)
  D. as a protection of
  E. to protect

Emily Dickinson’s letters to Susan Huntington Dickinson were written over a period beginning a few years before Susan’s marriage to Emily’s brother and ending shortly before Emily’s death in 1886, outnumbering her letters to anyone else.
A.        Dickinson were written over a period beginning a few years before Susan’s marriage to Emily’s brother and ending shortly before Emily’s death in 1886, outnumbering
B.        Dickinson were written over a period that begins a few years before Susan’s marriage to Emily’s brother and ended shortly before Emily’s death in 1886, outnumber
C.        Dickinson, written over a period beginning a few years before Susan’s marriage to Emily’s brother and that ends shortly before Emily’s death in 1886 and outnumbering
D.        Dickinson, which were written over a period beginning a few years before Susan’s marriage to Emily’s brother, ending shortly before Emily’s death in 1886, and outnumbering
E.        Dickinson, which were written over a period beginning a few years before Susan’s marriage to Emily’s brother and ending shortly before Emily’s death in 1886, outnumber

On May 12, a journalist snapped a picture of Japan’s prime minister, Shinzo Abe, grinning from the cockpit of a fighter jet。

[hide=2000]
