我也做错了,但是重新思考了一下句意。大家看能不能这么理解:
Like the grassy fields and old pastures( that the upland sandpiper needs for feeding and nesting when it returns in May after wintering in the Argentine Pampas), the bird itself is vanishing in the northeastern United States as a result of residential and industrial development and of changes in farming practices.
like后面接了俩名词后,是一个大大的定语从句,可以框起来不看;然后主句的谓语部分 is vanishing从句意上来说,the grassy fields and old pastures和 bird都是可以vanishing的,所以具有可比性。
我一开始做错,是受了前面从句部分的影响,认为草原是bird赖以生存的地方,所以它生存的地方和它本身,是不可以用like来做平行对比的。
其实句意要强调的不是他们谁依赖谁生长,而是这两者都在消失。
Manhattan里面的点说到过: concrete noun (refer to things, people, places)和action noun(refer to actions, usually come from a noun)是不可以混淆平行的。grassy field 和old pastures明显是concrete noun但是A选项里sandpiper vanishing属于action noun。
