正确答案选D没有异议，可是对OG的解释有些不明白的地方

OG解释：E The relative clausebeginning with which apparently (but nonsensically) describes theclosest nouns, mudor clay, rather than bricks.
由“were laid”可知which指代的应该是复数名词，这样就只能是bricks而不能是mud or clay了呀，望指教~

从语法角度来判断没错，支持你的想法。这感觉OG要是这么解释就比较牵强，不过这个句子整个很wordy

我的看法；不要怀疑gmat的答案不准， ...

不好意思，这题的确选D，我不小心弄错了。我没有怀疑OG答案，只是对这个解释有疑问。具体到做题不是搭配合理的就正确，还要看逻辑意思，不过这里由主谓一致就可以看出不应该修饰mud or clay,而只能修饰bricks，我觉得E选项指代应该没有问题，但是不符合平行。
