It指代的肯定是language或者nature中的一个，而前者更加符合逻辑意思。我偏向于指代前者。因为语法也是为逻辑服务的。nature of language 相当于language's nature，manhattan sc 5th第72页提到所有格后面的代词一般不能指代像language所处位置的词，不过关于这点是有争议的。gmat并未否认不能指代，只不过gmat不会把这些点作为做题时候的split，说明并不影响做题。
