你可以参考一下manhattan上关于这道题目的讨论，其中Ron认为这道题the ugliest gmatprep problem i've ever seen. 汗一把！
不过其中强调了2点：
1."as well as" is not a truly parallel construction;后面不能接动词原形
2. 'as well as emitting' seems like the kind of thing that the gmat would brand as 'awkward and wordy', because it can so easily be replaced by and emit. your best route here is just to memorize the fact that "...as well as VERBing" is an acceptable construction.
好吧，我我们要做的就是记住as well as VERBing在GMAT中时可接受的就ok

我看题干的时候就在想应该有 and emit ，然而看了一圈没有。。。
看到RON 的解释，才知道as well as VERBing 可以接受
