Hi my friend, and thanks for your question! Let me begin by saying that the job market after receiving an MFE or MSOR are incredibly competitive. No matter which school you choose, it’s better to understand this from the beginning and then work actively to make yourself a strong candidate for employment after you graduate. To address your specific question, I’d vote for Columbia, since it has a better reputation and location. There are definitely more internship opportunities in New York City, and solid internship experience is crucial when you’re looking to land a job after graduation. On the other hand, let’s say you decide to go back to China after two years. Even in that scenario, Columbia will still give you the best edge in the market. You also should know that there are four similar programs at Columbia, so you’ll be competing with a lot of other candidates for similar jobs. My main piece of advice is to use your school’s career services as much as possible. Your best bet is to build your career connections from day one, as this will ultimately help you land a job after graduation. Hope this helps!
