我之前听说过若干个关于CKGSB和CEIBS招海归Finance PhD的说法，我确实应该写个disclaimer我对这个pay不太有概念只有道听途说。。

如果想靠做FO成为billionaire那我只能呵呵了
做IBD这种FO的总以为自己是天之骄子其实只不过是在别人需要用你的时候把你使唤过去帮人舔一下脚而已，别人不需要用你的时候你就得一个个跑过去舔脚直到有人愿意低头和你聊一聊而已
做PE VC之类的也差不多，只有企业真的需要你的时候才回来和你唏嘘几句，让你投点钱，其实心里根本没把你当回事，等以后企业赚大钱的时候巴不得想把你踢走

如果真要做到有地位有财力那么做buyside的PM trader之类的decision maker才是最好的方法

当然什么都比不了做实业。金融咨询的本质就是“服务”与做实业的

如果你只想成为一个中上阶层的人那么做什么都可以达到，做金融只不过更快一点而已
但是一个人的社会地位和价值并不是由收入决定的

Well, IBD won't make you a billionaire, nor sales and trading, equity research, or any front office jobs in the sell side. Never ever imagine you can become a billionaire by choosing a right career. It takes talent, luck, mental toughness...

But if you randomly select 100 trading analysts, maybe 8 of them become top portfolio managers and turn to billionaires, 2 quit trading and do sth else but also become billionaires, 70 of them are millionaires, 10 become normal, 10 died on trading desk or got into jail.

If you select 100 risk management analysts, maybe also 2 quit finance and become very successful, 2 jumped to trading and also become billionaires, 60 of them millionaires, 35 normal, only 1 died early or put into jail.

My point is, if you think being normal (or even millionaire) is not different as dying or becoming a prisoner, you should fight hard to go to front office.

The same logic applies to why you work that hard to get to PKU. PKU ensures you nothing. But why are you willing to work 4 hours more every day for 12 years just to getting into a good university?

For the sake of possibility, or "upside potential" right? I am always longing call options for my life. They are expensive, and most of them are way out of the money, but I like them because upside potential is what I care about.

After longing options, the next thing is to add as much volatility as possible. The larger the sigma is, the more valuable these options are worth.

Different people have different attitudes towards life and goals. No matter what your goals are, the only right thing is to keep smart, sensible and careful all the time in order to choose the best "life portfolio" for you. Though even with the best portfolio you may also lose or even lose heavily, but those are the non-idiosyncratic risks that you cannot avoid.

正常情况下人们的风险规避程度不是你描述的情况...如果可以用函数来描述偏好，很少有人的效用是在十亿的狄拉克函数
