语法笔记中in the last century与in last century的区别

不确定prep里in the last century的用法，我查到的解释是“在上一个世纪”
eg：Many treasures were lost when the tombs were raided in the last century.（牛津高阶）

prep中说的是（黑色字摘自语法笔记）
in the last century与in last century的区别：
参见例题大全242：

242.Despite the recent election of a woman to the office of prime minister, the status of women in Pakistan is little changed from how it was in the last century.

(A) is little changed from how it was

(B) is a little change from how it was

(C) has changed little

(D) has changed little from how it has been

(E) is little changed from the way it was

Key: C. last 此处意思为"最近的"而不是"上一个",否则就不必用the，因此要用现在完成时。



如：

Did you see the game on TV last night? 昨天晚上

Interest in golf has grown rapidly in the last ten years. 最近十年

感觉这条规则不对，有in the last century用一般过去时的例子,这题里面可能是因为原句有from+过去时间，所以用现在完成时更简洁。好像以前做题碰到过一个错误句子是说某事过去是怎样怎样然后continue怎样怎样，这里可以直接说从过去开始就一直怎样怎样，所以不要再continue了。具体题目我忘记了……

可说呢，这个牛津高阶的例句有没有高人给解释一下？

我也觉得这里的解释让我不信服，什么加不加the，不管是上一次的还是最近一次的，last都是作为形容词，前面当然要有定冠词。其他选项都不对，所以才选C。A，E不对的原因是是句子要用主动语态，被动逻辑意思不对。曼哈顿里讲过一个词既可以做动词又可以做名词，优先选择动词的形式，因为be+n.是的句子没有直接加动词简洁，所以B也不对。change做动词最优。D选项from how it was错误，changed本来就有从过去到现在的改变，重复啰嗦。

also, this exam NEVER tests the presence or absence of 'a'/'an'/'the'. so, this is a non-issue in the first place.
