答案是D.我觉得不对，应该是the number of students.我想选E.

E错误。

1. students不能和后面的are at a record high连用。应该是number.

2. students have grown in numbers明显不如the number has grown的表达的意思清楚。

我也认为D里面应该是the number of students，但是比较之下，D is a better choice, although it's not the perfect one. 这是GMAT SC的trick.
