1:A中的IT指代问题,我觉得根据文章逻辑用them指代language  and sub-languages更合适

try doing表是正在努力做某事

从以上两点我认为B比A好

2. try to do sth. : to attempt to do or get something

try doing sth.: to do or use something for a short while to discover if it is suitable, successful, enjoyable etc

因为distinguish between sth. and sth. 所以C,E错！

因为转折，B错! 另C中,  it 多余。所以A 对。 try to do and try doing并不是太大考点, I think they both are fine here。请指教！！

C的错误不是这个吧?根据同一个代词在一个句子中指代相同的东西,既然前面的it指代language,后面也应该是这样啊!

C错在时态find和词组try doing

C的错误是指代不清，第一个it指a language （是其中的一个个体），第二个it应指前面的how mang language"s"（是整体），否则怎么会有about five thousand？

同意楼上，C的错误应该是把第2个it改为them，因为这里it的位置明显是应该指代languages的，而it只能指代a language，所以错。

原句is like:

"No body knows exactly XXX, because ...."

I think the "it" in C represents XXX (宾语从句), 不可能指代a lauguage (逻辑上不通,you cannot count a lauguage), 更不可能指代lauguages (GMAT里不是经常用单复数来强迫指代的吗,这里it不该有歧义)

难道语法里要求不可以用"it"指代从句吗?
