C 选项，without 在这里作状语，表原因，不修饰名词，这也是with/without最基本的用法。

是可以做定语，但最基本的用法是做状语，在这里就是最基本的用法，它服从于句子逻辑意思。就像一只杯子可以有许多用途，但我们基本都是用它来装水，只有在某种场合下我们用它来当乐器。在我们用杯子喝水的时候，你绝对不会因为它还能作乐器而产生异议，因为在这个逻辑下，杯子就是用来装水的。
