Usually it will say 1000-1200 words. At the same time, I gotta be honest... there’s no simple answer to whether longer or shorter essays are more effective. It really depends on whether you’ve fully demonstrated your motivations for the application and your career goal. This is what the schools are reeeeeeally looking for.

I’d suggest not worrying about the word counts right now. Just write down whatever's on your mind and organize all the ideas and examples. It needs a loooooooot of polishing before you can have the final essay polished up and ready to go.
