如果要補的話，我覺得是這樣的：
the economy might not be as weak as some analysts previously thought that the economy might be...

由於parallel maker前面部份的主謂與that-clause的主謂相同，在不造成ambiguity的前提下將相同的主謂省略，就變成了答案那樣了。

上面的that-clause可以用what來替代（我記得不知道在哪裡看過說what可以用來指代句子），所以，上句也可以變成：
the economy might not be as weak as what some analysts previously thought.

不知道俺這樣的想法是否正確，歡迎attack!!

问题是可以不加what反而更清楚直观的情况下为何还要画蛇添足加一个what呢？意义是三小? ，“史泰龙擅长杀人和放火”这句话非要说成“史泰龙擅长杀人和史泰龙擅长放火”是不是就有点神经质了？

这里没有一定要省略或者不省略的~，两种都对：Even though more money was removed out of stock funds in July as in any month since October 1987, sales of fund shares in July were not as low as an industry trade group had previously estimated.

A. as in any month since October 1987, sales of fund shares in July were not as low as
B. as had been in any other month since October 1987, sales of fund shares in July were not as low as what
C. than there was in any other month since October 1987, sales of fund shares in July were not as low as that which
D. than in any month since October 1987, sales of fund shares in July were not as low as
E. than in any other month since October 1987, sales of fund shares in July were not as low as what

这题我觉得E不对， 应该选D

D中any后面应该有other哦~~

如果一个选项F是than in any other month since October 1987, sales of fund shares in July were not as low as的话你还会选E吗。这里选E不选D是因为D中没有other，比较的时候把自己包括进去了意思直接错了，而不在于最后那个what。gmat的sc从来都不是选对的，而是选相对较好的。这句话OG里一直都有。

我们在比较结构中省略或者不省略的原则就是会不会造成歧义，所以我们发现做题的过程中有时候省略有时候不省略，这不是一个要满足形式上的对称的问题，而是要看如何能用最简单的句子表达最清楚的内容。该题中claims suggest that the economy might not be as weak as some analysts previously thought你看了这句话就知道是与一些分析者所考虑的经济的比较，你不会有疑惑是什么之间的比较或者是不是除经济以外的内容之间的比较，所以补全信息是没有必要的，反而会造成意思的混乱，再看claims suggest that the economy might not be as weak as have been previously thought by some analysts这个选项，看了的第一反应就是what have been previously thought，你不知道比的是什么。
我觉得这类题目我们做的时候可以多多积累，多多比较，可能会更清楚考察的知识点及思路。我上面的解释逻辑性可能不是很强，但比较中省略与不省略的原则一定是对的，所以我觉得我们不必太纠结与补充与不补充，试着从意思清楚的角度去想想这道题

自己尝试解读一下————
as.......as的原则就是前后一致，
A比较的weak的程度
the economy might not be as weak as (the extent of weakness) some analysts previously thought.
C比较的是economy
如果要比较economy前面的句子就不能是as weak as了
只能像下面这样
The economy might not be thought weak as (the economy) have been previously thought by some analysts

不知道这样的分析有没有说服力，希望大家能给点建议~~~~
