Depending on personal experience, personality type and emotional concern, some people hold the idea of investing money on improving roads and highways, meanwhile the others prefer to spend money on public transportation. However, as far as I am concerned, I suspect that the latter one is much better than the former. In the following discussion, I would like to reason and provide the evidence of my viewpoint.
First and foremost, the main reason of my point of view is that public transportation is much more necessary and essential. In general, as a whole family,we,most of us don't have private cars, should choose public transportation ,which can meet the needs of most people, as our first choice. Hardly do we rely on taxi or personal cars, instead of bus, street cars and subway, when we go out. That is to say ,the transportation that can serve more people should be taken care in first place under any circumstance. In addtion,the majority's choice is not only the eventual and final decision , but also can show the democracy just like the Election. There is no better evidence to demonstrate the stength of this point.
Another chief reason for my view is that public transportation can prevent environment, which we should cherish as our eyes, from being polluted. For sake of that, can we just leave a world full of dirty dust with little chance for our children to see the blue sky? Can we just leave an environment with wholly polluted air which is too dangerous to breath? Can we just leave a place where there is almost no clean water to drink? No, we definitely can't do that. If you can see that, you can understand it more deeply.
Admitedly,there is no denying that changing the status of roads and highways will bring some job opportunities and even do a great help to the development of economy. However, to minimize the losses and maximize the gains, we should first of all make a sound decision that we can't sacrifice the future only for the little benefit in present. So the right and striking decision is obvious.
In a final analysis, for all factors present above, I finally believe that choosing to put money on public transportation will be more advisable and reasonable for the governments. Further more, it will take a tremendous and significant effect on the durable deveopment of the society. In the long run,all the pay-off will be worth the effort. |
